Local metal band Crib Goch have begun work on their debut EP titled “Standing in the Shadow of Giants”, working with our engineer Kieran Lee. The band describe their music as “melodic, epic metal” and are recording four tracks with us here at Talent Pool.

So far, Crib Goch have succesfully recorded the drum tracks and most of the bass tracks for the EP, performing live by using our different studios in the building. The current live guitar tracks are for guide purposes only and the guitars will be retracked using various amps and speaker cabinets for clean and distorted sounds, and a 12-string acoustic guitar track.

The band will be  releasing the EP through our label, Talent Pool Productions, and you can keep up to date with all news and gigs through www.facebook.com/cribgochmetal.

Emi Callina visits Talent Pool

OOK

Ook and the Elephant

Ook and the Elephant are a Bolton based band who recently visited Talent Pool to produce their first e.p. with our engineer Danny Liptrott. The band describe the sound they produce as coming from the battle of wills between a bass player who has an unhealthy fear of guitar pedals, a lead guitarist who has an unhealthy love of guitar pedals and a drummer who would happily use no more than a vase and his head for percussion, all mixed with some rather nice male/female harmonies.

It was an enjoyable session by all accounts, and certainly from the Talent Pool staff point of view, it was great to listen to such a variation of sounds coming from around the different live rooms in the studio. With the drums set up in the large live room upstairs, the other musicans set about making themselves comfortable in three of our other smaller studios, enabling athe band to create real live takes without sound bleeding into different tracks.
