Local metal band Autumn Ruin have a chance to play at Download Festival, held at Donington Park in June 2013. The band are currently ranking 6th place out of 666 entrants, in a competition operated by Download Festival and Red Bull Studios, in London.
Voting closes at 5PM on Friday 26th April, and from the top 100 bands, a final 15 will be chosen to head down to Red Bull Studios in London, where acts will be given a professional studio experience, in preparation for the festival stage. Expert judges include Download Alumni Don Broco, Kerrang Radio presenter Katie P, Red Bull Records GM Angie Somerside and Rocksound editor Ben Patashnik. At the studio, acts will also have the opportunity to recording a track in the studio with expert producers on hand, gain mentoring from the judging panel, receive professional press shots and media training.
The top 8 bands in the competition who gain the most votes will win themselves a place to play at this year’s Download Festival. This is a great opportunity for local lads Autumn Ruin, who have worked very hard so far to get themselves up to 6th place in the competition. Formed in the Manchester area in 2010, the 5 Piece melodic metal/alternative band recorded their first EP ‘Symmetry’ in April 2012, which was released digitally on iTunes/Amazon. The recent release of the band’s first single ‘To Turn A Blind Eye’ has been well received, helping to push Autumn Ruin up to 6th place in the competition. The band shot an accompanying video for the song which features exciting footage of the band playing live. The track itself mixes aggressive metal riffing and vocals with catchy melodies, definitely an effective mix. Check out the track and video on the Download/Red Bull competition site, where you can also cast your vote.
