Joe Keegan storms The Voice

Local lad and customer Joe Keegan impressed the judges of TV’s “THE VOICE” this weekend. His astounding performance of “Keep your Head up” (originally by Ben Howard) caught the attention of Kylie Minogue and Ricky Wilson, of Kaiser Chiefs fame.

Joe has been working hard towards his musical career, whilst studying his A-levels at Thornleigh College. We have been aware of his interests in folk music and Irish dance for a while, and he has already claimed success in the regional and world Irish Dance Chamionships. Alongside this momentous achievement, Joe won the Manchester Irish Festival songwriting competition in 2013 with his own song “China Town”  – competing against established adult musicians.

A keen musician, his dream is now to emulate the success of top pop starts, such as Kylie – who he has chosen to mentor him on The Voice. It has been a pleasure for us to see one of our customers jump from strength to strength – Joe  enjoys to play piano, guitar, flute and ukulele, and (having seen him play live first hand) his own material is excellent. Check out “China Town” and “Tales of an Old Town” on Joe’s Youtube page.

It is certainly going to be an exciting journey for Joe from herein and all of us here at Booth’s Music and Talent Pool would like to wish him the best of luck with both The Voice competetion and his musical career. GO FOR IT JOE!
